Screening for Plagiarism Policy
KafaEdu: Journal of Education and Pedagogy strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism in submitted manuscripts and published articles. Every submitted manuscript is screened using Turnitin to identify similarities with previously published or publicly available works.
Turnitin similarity results are assessed by the Editor to determine the appropriate editorial action. A similarity report may be provided to authors to assist them in revising their manuscripts.
KafaEdu applies the following similarity thresholds:
- Similarity Index > 40%
Manuscripts with a similarity index above 40% will generally be rejected because a high level of similarity may indicate plagiarism, inappropriate quotation, or inadequate paraphrasing. - Similarity Index 10–40%
Manuscripts with a similarity index between 10% and 40% will be returned to the authors for revision and correction. Authors must properly cite similar passages, improve paraphrasing, and ensure that all sources are appropriately acknowledged. - Similarity Index < 10%
Manuscripts with a similarity index below 10% may proceed to the next editorial stage. However, the Editor may still require corrections to citations or paraphrasing if any material lacks appropriate attribution.
Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that all quotations, paraphrased materials, ideas, data, and other content derived from external sources are properly cited and acknowledged.
The similarity index is not, by itself, the sole basis for determining plagiarism. Editors may conduct further assessment of the sources and context of identified similarities. Manuscripts processed for publication must have a Turnitin report showing a similarity index below 10%, in accordance with the journal's policy, and must not contain evidence of plagiarism.
